Deutzer Hafen receives DGNB Platinum
Deutzer Hafen in Cologne has been pre-certified with DGNB platinum – the DGNB certification system's highest possible ranking within sustainability. The certification is the result of developing a flood resistant urban neigbourhood, where water challenges are turned into water resources. Among others, all rainwater is collected and filtered naturally in an integrated water handling system, ending up in a new public harbour pool and waterfall. Streetscapes and public spaces are shaped to mitigate and contain the flow of water from the Rhine River, while focus on future means of transport and new networks of bike paths are established at a flooding-safe height, as well as diverse building sites and types ensure a livable and mixed city.
adidas HALFTIME honored with Iconic Awards 2020
The German Design Council has honored adidas with an Iconic Award for Innovative Architecture – given for adidas' two new buildings at its “World of Sports” HQ in Germany: HALFTIME by Cobe and ARENA by Behnisch Architekten.
Statement from the jury:
"Although the two buildings are notably different in their aesthetics, they nevertheless reflect the brand values of the world-famous sportswear manufacturer – performance, passion, integrity, diversity – with consistency and clarity right down to the details both inside and out. Two remarkable projects which, with their iconic architecture, not only do justice in a very particular way to the company's aspirations of modernity and contemporary functionality, but which are also a striking testament to adidas's visionary strength and its readiness for the extraordinary."

Cobe to design Visitor Center at Germany’s third largest monument
Cobe has won the international competition to design a new Visitor Center at the Kyffhäuser Monument – Germany’s third largest monument and a historic 10th Century castle ruin. Set for completion in 2022, the Visitor Center is conceived as a simple ‘cut’ in the sandstone cliffs – merging architecture and landscape through a large green roof that rests softly on the surrounding cliffs. Constructed in locally sourced timber, the visitor center provides a warm and natural material counterpoint to the raw expression of the cliffs. A funicular lift connects the Visitor Center to the monument 80 meters above, providing the necessary infrastructure for the thousands of tourists who visit the site annually.
