Deutzer Hafen receives DGNB Platinum
Deutzer Hafen in Cologne has been pre-certified with DGNB platinum – the DGNB certification system's highest possible ranking within sustainability. The certification is the result of developing a flood resistant urban neigbourhood, where water challenges are turned into water resources. Among others, all rainwater is collected and filtered naturally in an integrated water handling system, ending up in a new public harbour pool and waterfall. Streetscapes and public spaces are shaped to mitigate and contain the flow of water from the Rhine River, while focus on future means of transport and new networks of bike paths are established at a flooding-safe height, as well as diverse building sites and types ensure a livable and mixed city.
