Cobe unveils design for vernacular visitor center in Stavanger, with Norwegian brewery LERVIG
Cobe and Norwegian brewery LERVIG unveil their plans for an 11.000 m² vernacular visitor center and brewery in central Stavanger, Norway. Located on the edge of the fjord, Cobe and LERVIG envision a unique attraction for locals and visitors to Stavanger. A brewery will be the heart of the new building, surrounded by a visitor center, a ‘street-food’ market, a harbour bath and promenade, and a roof vegetable garden, all framed by a grid of wooden arches and publicly accessible – tailored to celebrate city life.

Honorable mention for German Wallpaper Museum in Kassel
Last week our proposal for the German Wallpaper Museum in Kassel, Germany, received an honorable mention in a competition attended by 30 international architectural practices.
Located in the heart of Kassel's historic museum landscape, the 4.800 m² museum is the first and only museum dedicated to wallpaper in the world. Acting as a gentle counterbalance to the historic context, the museum appears as a white canvas for the 23,000 wallpaper objects exhibited.
Resembling a roll of wallpaper, facade openings, staircases and exhibition walls have rounded corners. In this way, wallpaper becomes the focal point for the overall design concept – celebrating the museum’s state-of-the-art collection from the 15th century to the present day, including gilt-leather specimens from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo eras as well as flocked and canvas wallpapers of the 18th century and hand-printed French panoramic wallpapers of the 19th century.
From roundabout to urban agora – Cobe to design the entrance to the European Union
Cobe and BRUT, together with ARA, UTIL and Buro MOVE, reveal the winning design for Place Schuman in Brussels, Belgium. Located in the heart of the European Quarter, in between the main institutions of the European Union, including the European Council and the European Commission, Place Schuman constitutes the entrance to the EU.
The project transforms a heavily trafficked roundabout into an urban space and meeting point. Inspired by the shape of the European Parliaments’ hemicycle, a reflective roof covering an urban agora unites all citizens and institutions of the EU and transforms the European Quarter from a city for cars into a city for people.
The Silo awarded with a golden plaquette
Foreningen Hovedstadens Forskønnelse (Association for the Beautification of the Capital) awards The Silo with a golden plaquette for beautifying the city of Copenhagen.
Established in 1886, the association annually honours selected initiatives which enhance the embellishment of Denmark's capital.

Red Cross Volunteer House inaugurated
Today, the 750 m² Volunteer House for the Danish Red Cross was inaugurated at a grand opening event attended by HRH the Crown Prince and volunteers of the Danish Red Cross, among others.
Shaped as a triangle with a publicly accessible roof surface, Red Cross Volunteer House is designed to invite people in, as well as encourage passers-by to enter and explore. It is not just a building, but a project set to develop voluntary work and become a focal point for anyone wanting to contribute to Red Cross’s efforts to help people in need.

Cobe to design Science & Innovation Hub containing 10 garages for informal learning and entrepreneurship
Cobe, Sted and Oluf Jørgensen win the competition to design a 8,500 m² Science & Innovation Hub at Aalborg University, Denmark.
The building rises as a terraced volume that forges new connections and urban intensification at Aalborg university campus. In order to promote idea generation and innovation, users will be able to inhabit a new type of un-programmed workshop space – named Garages – where the users define their own rules and methods of co-working. The garages, along with an atrium street are the innovative basis for informal learning, acting as a supplement to the formal education and research offered at Aalborg University.
The Science & Innovation Hub is set for completion end of 2022.
Grand opening of Red Cross Volunteer House
The grand opening of Red Cross Volunteer House is set for November 30 2017! Shaped as a triangle with a publicly accessible roof surface, the Volunteer House is designed with the ambition of inviting people in as well as encouraging passers-by to enter and explore. This is a building for the 25,000 Red Cross volunteers but also a public space and an urban living room for the entire city.

The square in front of The Library, by Cobe, Transform and Schønherr, wins Danish Landscape Award 2017.
The Danish Landscape Award is an annual prize-giving, presented in cooperation between Park- og Naturforvalterne, Danish Association of Architectural Firms and Danish Landscape Architects. Marking the 8th award ceremony since 2009, the award sees the growing recognition of landscape architecture increasingly adding value to the sectors of building and construction.
Ragnarock wins German Design Award 2018
The German Design Council grants Cobe and MVRDV's Ragnarock Museum the German Design Award 2018 for Excellent Communications Design Architecture.
The German Design Award is an annual prize-giving, awarded to projects that truly represent pioneering contributions to the German and international design scene. The award ceremony will be held in 2018 and will be followed by an exhibition showcasing all the winners of German Design Award 2018.
Cobe is moving to Nordhavn
At the beginning of 2018, Cobe is moving to Copenhagen's Nordhavn (North Harbour). Cobe has nearly doubled in size the past few years, and will double its office space in Nordhavn to more than 2.400 m² – while becoming part of their own masterplan.
Dan Stubbergaard, Founder and Creative Director of Cobe, says: “We are looking forward to becoming part of Nordhavn – the sustainable city of the future. Living in Nordhavn will be a unique 1:1 showcase for Cobe and our projects which, besides the masterplan, include The Silo, completed earlier this year, and future projects such as Kronløb Island including 25.000 m² housing, the office building at the tip of Redmolen and two metro stations opening in 2020.”
