Cobe designs CO₂-neutral museum in Sweden
Cobe has won an international competition for a new science museum in the Swedish university city of Lund. The museum will be constructed in wood, is fully CO₂-neutral and has the potential to become a future icon of sustainability. The plans for the new museum were announced yesterday at a major event as part of Almedalen Week on the island of Gotland in Sweden.
The science museum is to promote general interest in natural science and research in an engaging and playful way, thus also helping to cement Lund’s international position as a science city and serve as an inviting and cultural landmark for the local area and the region at large.
The two-story building has a total floor space of 6,000 square meters and will contain exhibition halls, a gallery, a reception area, workshops, a museum shop, a restaurant, offices and an auditorium, scheduled to open in 2024.
Cobe exhibits at Utzon Center
Cobe is part of the new exhibition 'Space Crazy' at Utzon Center in Aalborg, Denmark.
The Utzon Center has invited six architects and designers to create spatial installations in a joint exhibition and play centre. Children, adults – anyone – are able to gaze through a space telescope, decorate a model town, create rooms using light and smoke, take a nap above the clouds, or explore the notion of scale in an architectural installation designed by Cobe.
The exhibition runs until 23 February 2020.

The Ultra-Fast Charging Station – the sustainable alternative
The Ultra-Fast Charging Stations for electric vehicles are the green and sustainable alternative to the traditional gas stations. The stations are constructed in certified wood, topped by solar panels and surrounded by actual trees, grasses and other plantings selected in cooperation with the Danish Society for Nature Conservation (Danmarks Naturfredningsforening) with the aim of enhancing biodiversity around the station.
Moreover, all components of the construction can be broken down into usable and recyclable materials, while the choice of wood as a building material further emphasizes the building’s sustainable design.
In the longer term, it is the ambition that the Ultra-Fast Charging Stations will help make it more attractive to invest in EVs and thus promote the transition from fossil fuels to a more green, energy-efficient and CO₂-neutral transportation both in Denmark and abroad.
Nørreport Station exhibited at the Bicycle Architecture Biennale 2019
Nørreport Station is one of 15 selected projects exhibited at this year's Bicycle Architecture Biennale in Amsterdam.
The transformation of Nørreport Station is based on a study of preferred routes that formed the basis for the station’s new design. The new station accommodates parking lots for 2,500 bikes, and in order to create a clear hierarchy between the area for bicycles and the area for city life, all bicycle parking is placed 40 cm below the city floor – as sunken ‘bicycle beds’.
The Bicycle Architecture Biennale showcases outstanding built environment projects that transform places through the cycling culture as much more than just infrastructure. The exhibition runs from 17-21 June in Amsterdam before heading for an international tour.

Køge North Station opens to the public
Today, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince inaugurated Køge North Station – a 225 meter long pedestrian bridge and train station built above the busiest motorway in Denmark, the Køge Bay Motorway.
Køge North Station will not only be a sustainable traffic hub for the public transport of the entire Copenhagen region connecting high-speed trains, local trains and the Køge Bay Motorway, but also a distinctive landmark for green mobility.
The station is expected to serve six local trains and three regional highspeed trains per hour direction, with around 90.000 people passing through the area daily. A significant step on the commute for the expected 8.000 daily users and symbol of Køge and Denmark's strive towards a sustainable, green and CO₂ neutral future.
The first of 48 Ultra-Fast Charging Stations for electric vehicles opens in Denmark
In cooperation with Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever, Cobe has designed a new type of sustainable charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in Scandinavia. The stations not only promise to recharge a vehicle in just 15 minutes but also offer drivers and passengers a chance to recharge their own mental batteries while the car is being powered up.
The stations are constructed in certified wood and surrounded by trees, grass and shrubs with the aim of enhancing biodiversity around the station. All building components can be disassembled and reused.
Located in the Danish city of Fredericia, the first of its kind was inagurated today, and is part of an upcoming network of 48 ultra-fast, sustainable EV charging stations along Scandinavian highways.
